Prototype Plan B yachts won the 2015 PRYC, B Division Scratch Points Score and 2015 PRYC, TOPS Points score.

My own yacht, sail number 11 performed creditably at regattas and club events during 2016.

It won the 2016 PRYC, B Division Scratch Points Score.

This Youtube video, of my own Plan B winning a race at the 2016 Queensland Championship shows it to advantage.

At it’s first event!

Congratulations are due to Josh Torpy for sailing # 58 to a creditable fifth place in the 2017 South Queensland Championship.

February 2018. Plan B handles the heavy stuff!

Plan B was developed primarily in flat water conditions, but the following video shows Plan B, boat number 15 performing well to finish third in extreme C rig conditions, a large swell and white-caps.  It is shown tacking cleanly and under control upwind and downwind.

MARCH  2018 Plan B on the way!

My congratulations to Scott Fleming on sailing his Plan B, sail number 84, to fourth place in the 2018 South Australian IOM Championship; in demanding conditions and from a fleet of 20 skillful competitors.

APRIL 2018    Plan B moves further up the ladder!

At the New South Wales GP Round 3 this past weekend, Scott Fleming scored second place in a fleet of 19 top sailors.

Well done Scott!

January 2019 Plan B challenges!

Scott Fleming sailing yacht number 53 placed seventh of 71 competitors in the Australian Championships held at Regatta Waters, Queensland. A superb result!

I won the Grand Master award with my yacht number 15.

Watch the videos of Plan B yachts numbers, 53 of Scott Fleming, 152 of Laurie Hinchcliff, and 15 of Peter Burford, strutting their stuff to race wins in these QRYA clips from the Championship. See the QRYA Youtube Channel; https://.youtube.com/qldradioyachtingassociation for more video of the five Plan B yachts entered.

The Queensland Radio Yachting YouTube channel hosts the World’s best Radio Controlled Yacht Racing Videos. Ian Lobley’s race knowledge, photography, editing and presentation are second to none.

A 2019 note from Scott Fleming —

“Ok, so Peter asked me in November 2017 if I would like to sail his Plan B IOM, after we had been competing in the RC Laser Championship of Nations event (Yep … a plastic fantastic!) held at his home club in Queensland.

After a little digging, I found out that Peter wasn’t just some bloke having a go at making IOMs for something to do. Peter Burford has sailed real boats most of his life at National and International level, narrowly missing representing Australia at Olympic level in the Finn Dingy. He won the first two real size Laser Australian National Titles, along with other State and National Titles and is a legend to many within the South Australian dingy sailing fraternity. So I guess, he ticked the ‘Can sail’ and passion for the sport box!

Peter’s work history; there’s no other way to describe Peter other than being a perfectionist and a true craftsman; his workmanship is second to none. Peter’s father made model aeroplane engines in South Australia, so model RC manufacturing runs strongly in Peter’s blood. Peter has worked in the manufacturing industry from a young age making miniature engines, propellers surfboards, surf skis, paddles, engineering toolmaking and plastics injection moulding. Ask anyone who knows Peter or who has purchased anything he’s made, about the quality of his work; it’s outstanding. So, after having sailed the Plan B for a couple of years, I’ve found that workmanship, reliability and quality boxes are definitely ticked!

The Plan B IOM is as fast as any of the others out there and is starting to push the established marques. If you want an Aussie designed and built boat made to a fantastic quality, look no further.

Cheers, Scott.

December 2019

Rock stars Scott and Laurie scored well at Championships during the year and I won the PRYC Handicap Point-score Championship.

More Plan B yachts will join the competition for 2020 and we are aiming at podium results.

October 2020

We are currently under tight restrictions in Australia. All National Regattas have been cancelled. Queensland has remained largely Covid-19 free and we enjoy State and Club sailing, albeit with restriction. Some interstate Plan B owners are able to meet and sail. We remain in contact and are practising and tuning ready for the resumption of competition.

I am still building yachts and supplying orders to hand.

December 2020

With easing of restrictions, the South East Queensland Championship became a de facto Nationals with 29 top competitors from several States, although without the better Plan B sailors who were unable to travel and enter. I scored a mid-fleet placing with many excellent ‘B’ Fleet races. For me, a respectable result.

July 2021

Continuing Covid 19 restrictions left me again to carry the Plan B banner in the South East Queensland Championship. I finished in 12th place from 28 competitors with the highlight being a win in my seeding race and a brief appearance at the top of the leaderboard. Ian Lobley’s video with Mike’s perceptive commentary of the Second Seed Race can be played from the link and more video accessed from the QRYA Youtube Channel.

December 2021

Continuing restrictions limited travel and events but for the full year, my red # 15 Plan B scored points for an overall First Place in the Handicap Championship and overall Third Place in the Scratch Championship from twenty four competitors of our Paradise Radio Yacht Club.

December 2022

Again, First Place in the Handicap Championship of the Paradise Radio Yacht Club.

May 2023

Coomera Cup

My Yacht Number 15 scored Fourth Place in the Seed Race ‘1A’ but from there I did not sail well in the glare against talented opposition.
